About Me

My name is Sophia Spytek, and I am a senior of the class of 2021 at Wakefield School. I will be attending William and Mary in the fall to study biology, possibly on the pre-med or pre-vet track. The international organ trade was not my original topic to study this year, however I quickly became fascinated by the intricasies of the operation and the reality of the dangers it poses. I wanted to research and present my findings on the kidney trade because it is generally very unknown by the public, and it is a current issue nations still face today. Education and awareness of the dangers and realities of organ trafficking can help protect populations who are targeted and prevent people from participating. I hope to see positive change and greater movement to address this international issue that is endangering the lives of millions.
